The HBA of Greater Cleveland was founded in 1943 by George Goudreau, Sr. The HBA is a nonprofit trade association comprised of members involved in new home construction, remodeling and land development. Approximately half of our members are builders and developers. The balance of the membership is made up of associate members such as suppliers, tradesmen, banks/title companies, Realtors and many other support businesses.
We have developed many programs and committees to assist builders, remodelers, subcontractors and other associates in many aspects to add more credibility and integrity to yourself and your company, including financial, legal, educational and promotional materials.
The HBA represents its members by monitoring and interpreting all local legislation and regulations that may affect the home-building industry. Our staff attends city council and planning commission meetings and creates and maintains productive and proactive relationships between the HBA and local municipalities. At the same time, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA) monitor legislation and regulations at the state and national levels.
Our builder members are offered the Registered Builder Construction Standards and Homeowners Maintenance Guide. This one-year limited home warranty agreement is available only to our registered builder members. The builder gives this manual to the home buyer when the buyer takes possession of the new home.
The HBA offers many money-saving benefits such as group rates on workers’ compensation, health insurance, phone, and gas discounts. Members have saved from hundreds to thousands of dollars by enrolling in these benefit programs!
Promotional opportunities available for members include advertising on the HBA of Greater Cleveland website, sponsoring citywide events such as Homearama, Parade of Homes and other association events.
Networking and business development are very important aspects of membership in the HBA. Golf outings, our annual clambake and general membership meetings are just a few of the events held each year for our members to interact with one another and keep up on trends in the building industry.
Your membership in the HBA also includes membership at the state and national levels: the Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
